Campers came to WiSci with an appreciation for STEAM subjects—Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Design, and Mathematics. They left with so much more.

Throughout camp, these high school girls engaged in an intensive STEAM curriculum administered by experts from Intel, Google, the Namibia University of Science and Technology, and NASA SERVIR, a joint development initiative of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the United States Agency for International Development.

They learned how to code and build apps, how to use geospatial tools to address the effects of climate change in their communities, and they built autonomous robots to help them understand a future with self-driving cars. During the camp’s closing days, they created their own projects using the STEAM skills they’d gained in class, helping them understand how they can use technology to create a safer, more secure world.
